The National Mall runs from The Capitol Building on the hill to The Lincoln Memorial at The Potomac and contains Museums of The Smithsonian Institute and many memorials honouring US Military Campaigns and Political Figureheads.

Across the Potomac is Arlington National Cemetery the final resting place for US Military Heroes from the Civil War to the present day.
